“…but
from its conception and from the beginning of time my heart was intended for
passion. Our Lord is a consuming fire! A fire! A hot fire that consumes
everything in its path that is not made of the purest metal- this is what
was intended to reside on the inside of me"
-Lygon
Lygon Stevens lived a life of passionate pursuit – fierce pursuit of the
purposes of her life, passion for the will of God, pursuit of intimacy with
a God she knew was living. She recorded her life in numerous journals which
reflect an honest and simple faith of steel. Whether climbing in the
mountains, standing
atop some of the world’s highest peaks, pursuing a piano
performance degree, training as an EMT, or long-distance running, she was
compelled to push, to meet the challenge, whether she gained the worthy goal
or not. Her life became a worship to Him.
Since her death at age 20 in January 2008, God has used Lygon’s life and
words in incredible ways to change and challenge people all over the world
to go beyond themselves, to give just a little more, to try just a little
harder, to believe just a little longer.
“Give
me a passion for Your name.
Give
me that life that wakes a person every morning.
Give me a love for everything that stands for who You are.
And write the Words of Your mouth
upon the tablets
of my heart and
may the songs of Your heart
be
strung across the strings of my soul.”
